AIR: Le Voyage Dans La Lune

Apparently, French electronica/pop duo, AIR, composed a soundtrack to accompany the 1902 silent French film, "Le Voyage Dans La Lune for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Having watched the film, I can imagine how AIR's musical aesthetics would fit nicely with its quirky turn-of-the-century special effects and whimsical premise. Check out the film (with narration) below:

This film was the first science fiction film ever, and is considered a landmark of French cinema. It's title translates to "A Trip To The Moon."

Inspired by their work on the Cannes project, AIR have now decided to release a full-length album inspired by the film.

Le Voyage dans la Lune is to be released February 7, 2012 and will feature contributions from other bands. For a tracklist and more info, visit the Astralwerks website here.
