Elliott Smith: "Misery Let Me Down"

As a fan obsessed with just about anything Elliott Smith-related, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that a "new" song by Elliott had surfaced. Apparently, Elliott played a set for WMUC, the University of Maryland radio station, in 1997. The loss of Elliott, who committed suicide in 2003, was tragic for all those whose lives he had touched. But, because he was such a prolific songwriter, he was able to release seven albums, including two albums that were released posthumously. Additionally, there are many live recordings, special studio sessions, and other recordings of Elliott floating around. I have a collection of a few hundred tracks, but many of these are different versions of the same songs.

"Misery Let Me Down," however, is a completely new song that I have never heard before. It's similar in sound to his other songs from the Either/Or era. Listen and download at the SoundCloud link below.
